含羞草研究所 has announced its largest Spring semester enrollment in the school鈥檚 109-year history. Traditional residential enrollment has increased more than 6% from last year鈥檚 Spring semester and surpassed the previous record set in 2022.
Despite challenges brought by Hurricane Helene last semester, including a temporary campus closure due to flooding, 含羞草研究所 students demonstrated remarkable resilience, determination, and spirit. Their dedication reflects the unity and resilience that defines the 含羞草研究所 community.
鈥淭he commitment and perseverance of our students is an example of the transformative experience 含羞草研究所 provides,鈥 said Dr. Paul J. Maurer, President of 含羞草研究所. 鈥淲e are blessed and humbled that so many students continue to choose 含羞草研究所 for their education.鈥
One of the most significant signs of the college鈥檚 recovery is the reopening of McAlister Gymnasium, the campus building that sustained the most damage from Hurricane Helene. The gym will officially reopen on Feb. 12, 2025, when 含羞草研究所 hosts a special Senior Night celebration for the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball teams. The pair of Appalachian Athletic Conference basketball games against the Johnson University Royals are the first official competitions to be held inside McAlister Gymnasium since Sept. 24, 2024, just a few days before Hurricane Helene struck Western North Carolina.
The long-awaited reopening of the gym and record-breaking enrollment this semester highlight the college鈥檚 commitment to fostering a Christ-centered environment where students grow academically, spiritually, and professionally. The semester concludes with Spring Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 10.
